Dark Wall Trends

Everywhere you look, design and decorating magazines, HGTV and Pinterest, we’re seeing the use of the dark gray, dark taupe and sometimes even black walls.

To open the space and increase contrast try to use light colored furniture and accessories to offset the richness of the dark walls.

If a whole room is too much and you don’t have light furniture using a dark color as an accent wall can also add the trend without overpowering the room.

This room has all dark walls. It’s beautiful because the color is lightened by the use of white furniture but if you have a small room or the thought of all dark walls deters you try painting one wall with the dark color trend and use a lighter tone of the same color or the same color as the ceiling on the adjacent walls.

Here’s the same room with the side walls painted the same color as the ceiling.

Here’s the same look but with dark furniture.
